Universal Children’s Day: Press Release

We at the Office of the Prime Minister unite with the global community, under one banner, to STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST Children by promoting togetherness, creating awareness among children and improving children's welfare by advocating for their rights.

Port of Spain: The Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister (Gender and Child Affairs) is aware of the disturbing video being circulated on Social Media which shows a young female stating that she is being sexually harassed by three young men while walking in Port of Spain after she was finished exercising.

The Office of the Prime Minister (Gender and Child Affairs) strongly condemns these acts of harassment and is reminding the public that every woman and girl should be allowed to walk the streets freely without the fear of being abused by others.

The Office of the Prime Minister (Gender and Child Affairs) on Sunday 21st August, 2016, celebrated the graduation of three hundred and three (303) men, women from the Women in Harmony, Defining Masculine Excellence and Food Preparation and Home Management for Men and Boys Programmes.

In commemoration of World Population Day 2016, the United Nations Population Fund and the UN System in Trinidad and Tobago, in collaboration with the Office of the Prime Minister, Tobago House of Assembly, Ministries of Planning and Development, Sport and Youth Affairs, Social Development and Family Services, and members of civil society held a forum for youth, government officials, civil society and representatives from the UN on the issue of Investing in Teenage Girls to address teenage pregnancy.
